Praise the Lord!. I welcome you all in sweet name of Jesus Christ. Let us meditate few verses found in Romans 12.
Romans
12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your
bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your
reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed
to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may
prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of
God.
·
Surrendering one’s life to God is true
worship
·
The word bodies (somata) designates the whole
person , signifying that every dimension(family, work, studies, health etc..)
of our life’s should be under God’s dominion
·
Paul informs us that a holy and pleasing
sacrifice to the God consist in giving of our whole selves to him in utter
commitment to his lordship.
·
Such commitment WHICH IS REASONABLE is a
response to God’s mercies (He has loved us when we were sinners, forgiven us, given
us power, authority, comforted us, shown kindness to us, been patient with us, comforted
us….there is no end to it)and not a testimony of the nobility of the believers
·
The height of irrationality would be to
refuse God’s lordship after experiencing his merciful grace.
·
Giving our entire life’s and surrendering it
is the reversal of idolatry where glory and thanks previously given to idols
are now given to God.
·
Pleasing God is not automatic for the forces
of the world conspire to conform believers to its pattern.
·
Believers must resist the forces of this
age(world’s philosophy and reasoning). The means by which transformation
is attained is “the renewal of the mind”.
·
After conversion believers do not
instantaneously understand what is pleasing to God. Their thinking must be
informed by the truth so that they can comprehend and carry out God’s will.
·
What is good pleasing and perfect in god’s
sight is not always immediately evident to the believers. For Paul goes on to
say that we must “PROVE what is pleasing to the lord”.
·
HIS WILL is good, pleasing and acceptable for
it, raises us, frees us from sin and darkness, shame and disgrace raises us
from our low fallen state to the heavenly state of His glory
·
A learning curve is involved in which
believers attempt to assess what God demands.
·
Those who serve and worship the creatures and
not the Creator are under God’s wrath, plunged into foolishness, their
understanding darkened.
·
As the mind is renewed by learning God’s will
through his word and yielding to it believers bow to God’s rule in their life.
Prayer
Heavenly
Father I want to serve and worship you only. My hope and safety rests in you only.
Teach me your good, acceptable and pleasing will so that I may be a living
sacrifice for your glory.
In
JESUS NAME. Amen.
